VISAs for boarding in the UK
Visas and immigration
The UK Border Agency is responsible for issuing VISAs for international students to come and study in the U.K.

Nationals of countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, and their families, can come to Scotland to live, work and study without a VISA.
If you are a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you should read the European nationals section of the UK Border Agency website.
If you are not an EEA or Swiss national, or the family member of an EEA or Swiss national, you should read the Visas and immigration section of the UK Border Agency website to find out how you can apply to come to Scotland. It describes the eligibility requirements for each category, and explains how you can make an application inside or outside the UK.
Studying in the UK
Click here to see a description of the immigration categories for people from outside Europe who want to study in the UK. Details of the requirements for each category are given with an explanation of how you can apply for a visa or permission to remain in the UK as a student.
Tier 4 ‘Child’ Category
Tier 4 is part of the UKBA’s points-based system for immigration. It is for migrants who want to study in the UK under the ‘child’ category. To find out whether you can make an application under Tier 4 (Child), see the Can you apply? and Documents required pages. If you know the Tier 4 (Child) requirements, the Applying from outside the UK and Applying from inside the UK pages explain how to make an application.
