Kilgraston is a world-class boarding and day school, offering education for girls aged five to 18. We have an enviable record of academic achievement at the highest level. In February 2019, a report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate described Kilgraston and its pupils as ‘happy, articulate and kind children and young people who are very proud of their school. They thrive in the stimulating environment for learning and make the most of the extensive range of enriching activities and learning experiences offered to them,’ (Her Majesty’s Inspectorate Report February 2019). Set in 54 acres of stunning Scottish parkland in Perthshire, Kilgraston offers girls security and space to grow and develop while providing a tranquil and gentle-paced environment for girls to concentrate without distraction.

Kilgraston is located just 10 minutes from the city of Perth and 45 minutes from Edinburgh. Kilgraston’s campus occupies 54 acres of parkland set within a picturesque landscape of rolling hills and unspoilt open moor. We have fields, woodland and streams all on-site, providing pupils of all ages with a charming, delightfully rural experience all year round.

Academic
Kilgraston offers Scottish Qualification Authority exams, namely Scottish National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. In 2020 Kilgraston celebrated an impressive new record with 100% of girls achieving Grades A to C at Advanced Higher level and 94.4% of pupils scoring an impressive A-B Grade at the same level. At Higher level, some 99.4% of pupils achieved Grades A to C with 93.6% obtaining Grades A – B at the same level. At National 5 level, an outstanding 98.3% of pupils achieved Grades A – C with 92.5% attaining Grades A – B at this level.
All of our 2020 leavers were accepted into their first choice of university with 55% going to a prestigious Russell Group university. We are also extremely proud of the fact that around half of our pupils go on to study STEM related subjects at university.
Boarding
Kilgraston offers a happy and safe boarding community from the age of 8 and outstanding pastoral care is provided by each of the Housemistresses on the 2 boarding houses, which are connected to the main school, allowing access to the exceptional facilities. The Housemistresses and their assistants work closely with tutors to put pastoral care at the heart of the School, whilst older girls act as big sisters to the younger girls. The girls have an active social calendar with sports fixtures, musical performances, excursions and many socials with partner schools.
Clubs and Activities
Kilgraston’s 54 acres offers an enviable range of sporting facilities including an international-sized all-weather hockey astroturf, sports hall, tennis courts, fitness room, the only School in Scotland to have an in-school equestrian centre and a 25m indoor swimming pool. Kilgraston currently has girls representing Scotland in Hockey and Netball.
Music is a key part of the Kilgraston community, which is reflected in the busy calendar of events throughout the year including the annual Christmas Concert. Girls represent the school in regional and national orchestras and choirs. In Drama, pupils take the LAMDA examinations and partake in plays, musicals and house drama competitions. The Art Department are renowned for their outstanding creativity and artwork, in which girls win top art awards at competitions across Scotland.
Kilgraston also offers over 50 additional clubs and activities including DofE, Debating, Dance, Karate, World Challenge, Musical trips and many more.
International Summer School

Scholarships & Bursaries
Scholarship awards are available for entry into U3/P7 onwards. These are awarded for academic excellence and for outstanding ability in Art, Music and Sport (including riding). All-rounder scholarships are also available.

Kilgraston admits pupils of a wide range of abilities who are able to respond to the educational provision which the school provides. It is essential that all pupils at Kilgraston have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. The selection procedures for all prospective pupils are based on ability and aptitude, are fair and reflect the ethos of the school.
