Inspections

All schools in Scotland, both state schools and independent (i.e. private, fee-paying schools, including boarding schools) are inspected by the same inspection bodies, on the same criteria. HMIE (Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education), part of Education Scotland, focuses on learning and teaching while the Care Inspectorate monitors boarding accommodation and the care provided.
